The elevator talks competition and poster session at the 2018 symposium both presented faculty, technical staff, and students the opportunity to learn more about the multidisciplinary research conducted among the TPS labs and partner universities.
First prize winner in the Elevator Talks Competition is Unnati Sonawala. A 3rd year doctoral student in Plant Pathology, Physiology, and Weed Science, Unnati's topic was titled "What role do plant amino acid transporters play in
nutrient acquisition by pathogens?" and is co-advised by Drs. John McDowell and Guillaume Pilot.
John Herlihy secures top honors in the Poster Competition with his poster "Exploring Plant Pathogen Nutrient Exchange for Novel Disease-Control Strategies." Advised by Dr. John McDowell, John is a doctoral student in Plant Pathology, Physiology, and Weed Science.
Competition winners each receive $500 professional development awards in their respective categories.
Honorable mentions in Elevator Talks are Kasia Dinkeloo (PPWS) and Gourav Sharma (PPWS) who also earn $100 professional development awards.
